Why your Sun Sign matters still in your chart.

SUN SIGNS ARE VERY IMPORTANT. In every area of your life! Your SUN SIGN is who you ARE. It’s the essence of YOU. It absolutely matters, and I am sort of getting tired of hearing people say it isn’t the most important sign. It is important in every single way and YES, it is important in relationships! Sun sign astrology can tell you a ton about how you are going to interact with people. I can’t believe I have to write this!  But I keep seeing people discussing how much more relevant other planets are in a chart.  Every time someone brings up sun signs I hear both amateur and professional astrologers stomping all over them. They will say things like, you can’t base compatibility in a relationship based on Sun Sign. Sorry, but yes, you can. It certainly won’t tell you the whole story, but you can sure predict compatibility based on Sun sign energy flow. I am NOT saying other planets aren’t important. I am not saying aspects in a chart aren’t important. But, I really think people are not valuing the role of sun sign astrology enough. Have you ever heard of a solar chart? If you haven’t you should really go look it up. Go get a copy of your own solar chart and study it. But in a nutshell in a solar chart, your Sun sits on your ascendant. Making your sun sign also your rising sign but at the degree of your sun sign. Did you know that for personality analysis, and even some predictive astrology your Solar chart is pretty darn accurate? This means you don’t even need to know your exact birth time to do a chart reading on someone. A solar chart is around 70% accurate for even predictive astrology! So why is a solar chart so accurate? Because the SUN is that important! A solar chart tells us how we approach things based on our Sun sign. The Rising Sign, on the other hand, shows us how we view things through a filter of our self-impression as well as how others view us at first. Your moon sign is also extremely important. Our moon is our emotions, and of particular importance in reading a chart. A woman will sometimes act more like her moon sign since we are [in general] more outwardly emotional. One of the first things I do when looking at a natal chart is examine the person’s “big 3”. Sun, Moon, and Rising Sign. For example, If someone is a Gemini Sun with a Leo Rising and Taurus Moon I will immediately know that their GEMINI self is being filtered by their LEO rising (their view of themselves)  and Taurus Moon (how they respond emotionally to a situation). We don’t look at that person and think that their Taurus Moon is being filtered by their Sun and Rising sign. Some people might live out their lives based on their moon sign more, but their essence will always be that sun. You can’t escape it. Sun sign is critical to examine in relationship astrology. Here is an example of something I see a lot. When someone comes to me for a relationship chart reading and their Sun signs are squared, let’s say the man is an Aries, and the woman is a Cancer. They are in turmoil, but their moon signs are trined in Air. They love each other, and they are attracted to each other, but they are constantly battling because the Aries will not understand cancer’s approach to life. The Aries wants to jump in boldly into everything, while the Cancer needs to approach things more cautiously. The Aries speak their mind and upsets the Cancer. In the end, they can forgive each other because their emotions are in tune, but there is a constant battle. I am not going to go deeply into aspects of Mars and Venus because in relationships those are truly more about attraction and desire vs compatibility. It is ultimately your SUN sign that shows compatibility with the Moon of almost equal importance. If you don’t have one or the other in a harmonious aspect, it’s going to be a rocky road for sure. So, as you learn more about astrology don’t dig so deep into a chart that you forget the sun sign. Astrology is incredibly nuanced, but Sun Sign Astrology is still of utmost importance.
