New “super moon” in Gemini

Today we are experiencing the new moon in Gemini. A super moon just means the moon is closer to the earth than at other times. It’s not that unusual or uncommon, but it does sound cool and the moon can appear larger to us, depending on what time you see it.

How can a new moon impact you?

Moon phases, in general, are very short lived transits. The moon changes signs every 2 ½ days, so we get lots of opportunities to experience all the different ways a phase can impact our chart. A new moon is often a great time to start new projects, refocus our energies and intentions and basically get a fresh start.

What does a new moon in Gemini mean for you?

Gemini rules the 3rd house of the zodiac and deals with things like communication, the way you talk, the way you learned as a child. It also rules siblings and things like your early relationships. A new moon in Gemini will highlight those areas in your life and often bring new energy or attention to them. Gemini energy is also dual-natured and almost always has a public and a private self. You might experience this energy similarly. For example, you might be excited and scared at the same time about a new project or feel conflicted, sad and happy at the same time. Gemini energy is almost always mental, so expect your mind to be active and engaged.

If you know where Gemini is in your own chart then you will be able to see in a much more specific way how the new moon can impact your chart. For example, if your rising sign is Gemini, the new moon could stimulate you to focus on 1st house things, like your physical body. Maybe you’ll be inspired to start a new fitness program or start a mindfulness program. Those with a  6th house Gemini might feel inspired to clean their house or office. If Gemini rules your 9th house, maybe you will be inspired to take a new class or plan a trip. If you know what time you were born, Check out www.astrodienst.com to look up your rising sign.

What else influences the new moon?

This new moon, in particular, is a blend of positive energy. The moon and the sun are always conjunct (combined) during a new moon, and they are trine (very positive energy flow) with Jupiter in Libra. This should bring an abundance of positive energy. Be careful though, you might be tempted to leap before looking into a new project or idea. Moon is going to be square Neptune within the next 24 hours too, which could be frustrating and some things can be hidden from your awareness. Don’t let excitement for a new idea cloud your judgment too much.

Regardless of what sign the new moon is in, it’s always a great time to take stock of your life and analyze what is working for you and what is not. Enjoy this energy and try and harness it for good in your life.
